Graphing Linear Functions and Their Key Features: Sample Algebra 1 EOC Questions

Given a table, an equation, or a description, students graph the line and then read its key features: domain, range, x- and y-intercepts, and rate of change. This is the mathematical version of the skill; the applied version lives in MA.912.AR.2.5.

How the Algebra 1 EOC tests this benchmark

Graph-only items present the function in function notation, standard form, or point-slope form rather than the friendly slope-intercept form, so a conversion usually comes first. Domain and range are written as inequalities or in set-builder notation, never in interval notation. Graphic response items with the line tool are the signature format.

Skills students need

  • Graph a line from any of its three forms
  • Identify x- and y-intercepts
  • State domain and range in inequality or set-builder notation
  • Interpret the rate of change from the graph
